I have read many other posts about this, and I don't see why my drive is failing when it's exactly the same as the drive that is working just fine. I'm not sure if this is a failure with an expansion card that I have or some kind of hardware failure or what. I've got a spare drive and I can access it without any problems, just not from the same disk that's failing. Running gparted and fdisk -l don't show any errors. This is the partition table from fdisk -l: Disk /dev/sda: 320.1 GB, 320072933376 bytes 255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 38913 cylinders, total 625142448 sectors Units = sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes Disk identifier: 0x0005a149 Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/sda1 2048 261047 214739203+ 7 HPFS/NTFS/exFAT /dev/sda2 261048 314447 1638408 83 Linux /dev/sda3 314448 389137 274816 82 Linux swap / Solaris A: The first partition on disk /dev/sda1 is reported in sector 2, and that's what your drive is telling you. I'd suggest trying the disk check with the new drive connected and make sure that the disk parameters match up. If the disk check passes, then the problem lies with the expansion card. If not, then I suspect the expansion card. Before you go buying another one, it might be best to see if there is a firmware update for your card. If you can find that, and then try the previous suggestion. Friday, November 7, 2015 Staying connected is one of the most important things in life. With the
